South Charlotte Restaurant Fire Shuts Down Local Business For Holidays

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A restaurant fire at the Arboretum in South Charlotte has put it and a neighboring clothing store out of business for the holidays.

Avaniti Italian restaurant caught fire early Saturday morning.

Firefighters got the call around 7:30 a.m. but tell Eyewitness News that a cleaning crew in another building saw smoke three hours earlier.

The fire caused smoke and water damage in several buildings, including Bruce Julian Clothing store.

The store has been in Charlotte for decades and the owners tell us they play to reopen by early February.

Investigators have not yet pinpointed a cause of the fire.
