Surveillance Tape Shows Teens With Fireworks Responsible For Marshville Blaze

MARSHVILLE, N.C. —

Arson investigators say they now know what caused Tuesday's fire in Marshville that left four families homeless.

They said four teenagers threw firecrackers in one the windows. They suspected that Tuesday, but now confirm it.

Witnesses said they thought they heard firecrackers. Courtney Sigmon said, "It was like a popping noise."

Detectives have gained more evidence. They said a man who lives in the complex set up hidden cameras to keep an eye on his car. He happened to catch the teens on tape and turned it over to authorities.

At this point authorities don't want to release the video or say what it shows because they're still investigating. Also, they said the tape shows minors. But they call it "a 10" on a scale from one to 10 in terms of helping their case.

More than 20 people lost their homes in that fire, including babies and two women who are six months pregnant. One neighbor's friend, Destiny Mendino, said, "Oh, no, that's sad. I’m telling you, I don't know what we're going to do."

Investigators have not charged anyone yet.
