Teacher Accused Of Having Sexual Relationship With Student

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police are investigating a possible relationship between a teacher and student at a Charlotte high school.

An 18-year-old E.E. Waddell High School student filed a police report saying he had sex with his female teacher.

School officials said the teacher was suspended on Wednesday and then quit.

Assistant Principal Tiffany Little confirmed the report late Thursday afternoon.

"We will tell you this incident did not happen on school property. It was done over the weekend. We take a vested interest in our students while they are in school as well as when they are away," she said.

According to the police report, the 18-year-old student is in the teacher's math class.

Lanora Jackson said she was in the teacher's class, too.

"Does something like that bother you as a student?" asked reporter Steve Litz.

"Not really, because it doesn't have anything to do with me. But yeah, it does bother me because it affects us as a class because now we don't have a teacher," said Jackson.

Students carried a letter home to their parents on Thursday explaining the situation and informing them of a police investigation.

Yvonne Young's son goes to E.E. Waddell.

"I think she is obviously going to have to deal with the consequences. That's going to be tough on her. We make the wrong decisions, but we can learn from it," she said.
