Teacher not fired after allegations of giving student drugs

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. —

A teacher is accused of giving prescription drugs to a student.

The Gaston county school district confirmed Meredith Pruitt is still getting paid while on administrative leave.

The district originally said she had been fired.

Last month, police charged Pruitt with giving clonazepam to a student, who police said sold the pills and shared the money with Pruitt.
