Teen Attacked, Robbed At Charlotte Movie Theater

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte-Meckleburg Police are searching for two young boys accused of robbing a 13 year-old boy in a South Charlotte movie theater.

It happened around 8:30 Wednesday night at the AMC 22 theater in the Carolina Pavillion Shopping Center.

Police said a 13 year-old boy was watching a movie when two boys put a belt around his neck, pulled him into a hallway and took his cell phone and cash. Investigators said the two suspects are around 9 and 14 years-old.

The victim was at the movie theater with a group of people, police said, but the adults who were with that group were watching a different movie in another theater.

Investigators said the crime was extremely unusual. They brought K-9s to the theater in an attempt to pick up the trail of the suspects, but didn't get far.

We tried to speak with the AMC 22 management about the attack, but they were not allowed to comment. A manager did refer us to a corporate spokesperson who told us by phone guest and employee safety is a top priority and that "amc" is working with police in their investigation.

While the crime didn't deter Kimberely Wooldridge and her boyfriend Vladimir from continuing their movie date, they said the action on big screen won't be their only focus..

"We're gonna be looking over our backs the whole time we're watching the movie now," Wooldridge said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this robbery to call Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.
