Teen Kidnapped From Charlotte Bus Stop, Raped

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A teenage girl told police she was kidnapped from a CATS bus stop and raped.

Neighbors said they aren't surprised about the alleged crime, which happened late last week on Beatties Ford Road at French Street.

Ozzie Rodriguez owns a catering business right next to where the girl was kidnapped. He has only been in the neighborhood for a month, but he said he is already fed up with the area.

"Even me, when I'm here, we just want to leave," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said it isn't uncommon to see teens waiting alone for the bus.

"By themselves -- there's nobody with them, just the kids. Girls like 13 or 14 years old," he said.

According to police, the victim was 15 years old. Police said the girl was forced into a car at gunpoint, blindfolded, driven off and raped.

From there, police said they aren't sure where the men took the teen and raped her, but they brought her back to the bus stop after the attack.

Local resident Jim Gill takes the bus every day, but he said he gets on and gets off cautiously. Gill worries about his own safety when waiting for buses alone.

He said he can only imagine how frightening it would be for a teenage girl.

"It's a dangerous place to be right in here," Gill said. "It's a shame. I feel bad about it."

So far, police haven't caught any culprits.
