Teen Sexually Assaulted In Her Northeast Charlotte Apartment

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A teen was sexually assaulted by a man who may have been casing her home days before, police said Wednesday.

The 18-year-old girl told officers she awoke around 4:30 a.m. to find a man had pushed open her window, put his hand inside and was touching her in her bedroom at an apartment on Deergreen Lane in the Mission at Harris Pavilion Apartments. Just as she realized what was happening, the man took off.

The teen said she ran to her mother’s bedroom, and when she described the man, her mother said it sounded just like a man who had knocked on the door two days before and had asked several questions.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area to look for the man. He’s described as a black man about 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 30 years old.
