SHELBY, N.C. —
Boy Scouts from across the 11 Western North Carolina counties of the Piedmont council, descended upon the fairgrounds to join in the largest scouting event held in the Carolinas. The event, which is held every four years, helped educate and entertain over 8,000 youth and families.

Scouts enjoyed more than 30 pioneering projects including wooden Ferris wheels, merry go rounds, monkey bridges and signal towers. The Boy Scouts were also able to tour a traveling Boy Scout memorabilia area artifacts dating back to 1910.
Scouts were able to work towards a particular badge at the Merit Badge Midway that offered more than 45 different merit badge exhibitors.
