Three N.C. Banks Robbed In Same Day By Similar Suspect

Police in Hickory were investigating whether the same man may have robbed three banks on Tuesday after Channel 9 Eyewitness News pointed out similiaries in bank surveillance photos.

Pictures from banks robbed on Tuesday in Hickory, Statesville, and Mocksville showed similar suspects.

Each was a white men with a beard and mustache and each wore sunglasses and a ball cap.

The three suspects also appeared to wear similar coats.

Hickory police were surprised at the similarities when Channel 9 Eyewitness News showed a photo of the suspect in Tuesday's bank robbery in Statesville and asked if the man might have also committed the robbery in Hickory.

The suspects were strikingly similar to a man wanted for five other bank robberies in October and November in Greensboro, High Point, Burlington, and Durham.

Eyewitness News called the Charlotte F.B.I. and asked if Tuesday's bank robberies were connected to the previous five holdups, but agents had not responded by late Tuesday evening.
