I-40 NEAR NC/TN LINE - DELAYS EXPECTED

One westbound lane of I-40 is closed between Exit 7 and the NC/TN line Crews continue to stabilize the mountainside following last year's rockslide Significant delays are expected on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays,

One lane of I-40 westbound is CLOSED between Exit 7 (in the Pisgah National Forest) and the North Carolina/Tennessee state line.  Crews continue work to stabilize the mountainside following last year's rock slide.  Delays are expected on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. 

Use I-240 westbound (Exit 53-B) to I-26 West (Exit 4-A) to I-81 (Exit 8) to I-40 (at Exit 421) as an alternate route from Asheville into eastern Tennessee.

All lanes of I-40 eastbound are open.  Work is expected to continue through Labor Day.

Many travelers have enjoyed Traffic Team 9's scenic alternate route.  If you have time, you can still enjoy the road(s) less traveled.
