Union Co. Football Player Injured During Game

UNION CO, N.C. —

A high school football player is in intensive care after he suffered a head injury during Friday night's game.

Anthony Gomenis is a senior at Marvin Ridge High School in Union County. He plays linebacker on defense and fullback on offense. He was injured in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter of the game.

The Enquirer Journal reports Gomenis told teammates he was dizzy right before he collapsed.

Eyewitness News spoke with the team's coach, Scott Chadwick. He said Gomenis is expected to make a full recovery but that this was his second game back after he was out from an earlier concussion.
