Van Hits 3-Story Apartment Building

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A South Charlotte family is out of its home and police are still looking for the driver responsible.

Just after 5p.m. on Monday, witnesses said a van suddenly sped up and made a right turn into one of the units at River Crossing Apartments.

No one was in the apartment, but the two men in the van ran off.

Police said the passenger was found a few buildings away and needed treatment for his injuries.

A 12-year-old saw it all, and said both men were hurt.

"He was bleeding all over his face and the other guy was spitting blood from his mouth," Adams Paiz said, "and they just ran away."

Neighbors said a family of four lives in the apartment.

It's unclear when they can go back in.
