Wheelchair-Bound Man Robbed, Assaulted In Own Home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A wheelchair-bound man was recovering after being assaulted and robbed in his own home Friday night.

The victim told police a man entered his apartment with a small handgun and demanded money.

According to police, the man forced the suspect out of his chair onto a nearby couch. The robber attempted to tie the victim up but the victim fought with the thief until he pointed the gun at the victim.

Investigators said the victim told the man where his money was in his chair. The thief took the money, which was in a bag and also contained the victim’s medication, and fled the scene.

The victim also told police there had been another man standing on his balcony while the robbery took place.
