Darius Bego, 16, has never met Billy Graham but they have a lot in common.

Reverend Graham became the face of a worldwide ministry, and now Darius is one of the faces taking the ministry into the future.

"I think it's amazing what they're doing, and it's a real honor to be a part of that,” he said.

Darius is featured in a national television special on Christian networks about "Dare To Be A Daniel" -- a program that teaches young people to be the next generation of evangelists.

“It's a kind of radical idea that kids our age can actually witness to other people. It was kind of scary at first, but it had a big impact on me,” he said.

Program director Reverend Chad Miller said it draws upon the story of Daniel in the Old Testament.

“He purposed in his heart at a young age that he was not going to defile himself in the midst of this culture,” Miller said.

He said it's an example that challenges young people of today to take a stand for Christ.

"Be a young woman or man of integrity so you have a platform to engage your friends about. Because if you're always going with the flow this way or that, do they really want what you've got?” Miller asked.

Darius now shares his faith with classmates at North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville to help them resist the negative pull of peer pressure, and sometimes he even witnesses to complete strangers uptown.

He said he doesn't know if he'll follow the same path as Billy Graham, but it's already changed his life, and he wants to change other young lives, too.

“ I think all around it's one of the best things we can do as Christians, just don't be afraid, be bold, be courageous and just do it!” he said.
