HENDERSON, N.C. — A man who police say shot an employee in a North Carolina grocery store has been charged with murder after she died from her injuries.
Local media reported that Henderson police officers were called to a Food Lion grocery store around 6 p.m. Saturday and found 23-year-old Shaekeya Danielle Gay.
Gay was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Duke Medical Center in Durham where she died Monday.
Twenty-three-year-old Marcus Tyrell Hargrove of Vance County surrendered to police around 12:20 p.m. Monday. Hargrove had originally been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Hargrove and Day had apparently been involved in a relationship.
It was unclear whether Hargrove has an attorney yet.
