CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation has targeted a 5-mile span of Interstate 77 to help improve safety in a construction zone.
Crews began work on Wednesday to refresh lane striping within the 26-mile work zone for the interstate's toll lane project. NCDOT anticipates the project will be completed by Saturday morning.
NCDOT spokeswoman Jen Thompson said recent traffic shifts associated with the construction project have made it unclear where drivers should be, so the department wants to refresh faded areas to mitigate confusion.
