Suspect killed after police chase in Hope Mills

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — (AP) Authorities say a man was shot to death after leading police on a chase in Hope Mills.

Investigators said 25-year-old Kevin Grissett was driving a 1993 Cadillac that did not stop around 1 a.m. Saturday when a detective tried to pull it over while investigation drug deals.

During the chase, authorities say Grissett rammed at least two police cars and was shot. He died about 12 hours later at the hospital.

A passenger in Grissett's car ran away and has not been found.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
