WEEKEND MORNING ANCHOR/REPORTER

WSOC-TV is seeking an aggressive and experienced Weekday Morning Anchor/Reporter who can handle major news, breaking news and all aspects of a newscast with proven journalistic experience and professionalism. You will solo anchor at least 2 hours of news on weekend mornings and a half hour weekend noon newscast.  During the week, you will enterprise a story for the evening news. We are the market leader and want a proven journalist who has stamina, leadership and smarts. Social media involvement is a plus. SENIOR ACCOUNTANT/FINANCIAL ANALYST

 

WSOC TV has an opening for a Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst with strong communication and organizational skills. This position will interact with local employees, local Management as well as with staff of our Corporate Shared Services Groups. This position will also work in a team environment with a high level of commitment to continuous learning and flexibility.   Some of the responsibilities on a daily basis will include G/L Account Analysis, Journal Entry Preparation, Capital Asset Management, Accounts Payable Oversight, and Accounts Receivable Management. Additional responsibilities include Payroll and HR Liaison, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Financial Reporting and Analysis, the Monthly Close Process and Special Projects as assigned.  Candidates must have a degree in Accounting with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting with an emphasis on financial systems, budgets and financial reporting.  Knowledge of accounting practices and principles and advanced knowledge of Excel are also required. Both Broadcast experience and CPA are preferred and knowledge of Great Plains and Hyperion are a plus. This is full-time position reporting to the local Controller.  This position will be eligible for Cox Media Group benefits, including medical/dental, 401k, and Pension. BROADCAST DESIGNER – PART TIME

WSOC-TV, Channel 9, has an immediate opening for a part-time Broadcast Designer. This part-time position works closely with the Design Director and the News department to create and execute daily news graphics along with a variety of other projects including animations, branded packages, logo design, print design, and web design. Candidate must have strong organizational and technical skills. The ability to generate and clearly communicate ideas from a design standpoint to many departments is key. Must be able to manage and prioritize time, work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines and deliver high quality design. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Also need to be a self-motivated team player. Three years of experience working in broadcast/production design or equivalent with a solid resume and digital reel. News experience preferred. INGEST OPERATOR – PERMANENT PART TIME

 WSOC-TV is looking for an Ingest Operator to be responsible for all pre-recorded program elements for air.  Primary responsibilities include: ingest commercials and promos, data basing shows on tape and video servers, and recording shows for later playback.  This job requires using several elements of our automation system and our video transfer systems.  The ideal candidate must be able to perform the above duties quickly and efficiently and be able to work with minimal supervision.  Schedule flexibility is required subject to the operational needs of WSOC/WAXN-TV.  Previous television ingest experience is preferred.  Knowledge of television automations systems is a plus.  Candidate must be computer literate. UTILITY PRODUCER

WSOC, Channel 9 Eyewitness News, is looking for a Utility Producer to join the news leader in Charlotte.  This producer will have the unique opportunity to learn every show Eyewitness News produces.  The Utility Producer will also have the opportunity to write news topicals for Channel 9 newscasts.  Eyewitness News is looking for a producer who writes compelling, specific teases and can handle the challenge of producing different newscasts.  Ideal candidates should have at least two years experience as a line producer. Knowledge of iNEWS, Avid and Ignite are a plus. Eyewitness News relies heavily on enterprise and investigative reporting and needs a producer who can showcase, sell and tease unique stories.  HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

The Human Resource Manager serves as a key business partner and provides a variety of human resources consulting services to an assigned client group in collaboration with the Regional HR VP.  This role will provide HR support and expertise in the core functional areas of Human Resources with a major focus on employee relations but will also provide insight and solutions that add value and advance the mission, vision and business objectives of the organization.  This role implements tactical and strategic HR programs and is responsible for continuously evaluating and optimizing operational efficiencies and promoting excellence in customer service.   Incumbent will have foundational knowledge of Organization Development including change management, organizational restructurings, and performance assessments.  This position will support Radio locations in: Dayton, OH; Richmond, VA; Louisville, KY; Long Island, NY; Milford, CT and TV stations in Dayton, OH and Charlotte, NC. The central office is located in Dayton, Ohio the location of the position is to be determined.

Responsibilities:
•    Serve as the principal HR contact and expert for assigned clients and apply HR concepts to support the needs of the clients.
•     Build credibility with business partners by demonstrating an understanding of the business strategy and challenges, aligning the departments’ short-term and long-term people goals with the business strategy, and facilitating and implementing initiatives to assist the business in achieving success.
•    Ensure compliance with all federal/state/local employment laws, and regulations (unemployment, OSHA/safety, workers’ compensation, affirmative action, FMLA etc.) 
•     Analyze employee relations issues; investigate employee complaints, including complex matters, consult with legal and senior leadership as appropriate and make sound, timely recommendations for management action and follow-through to ensure closure.
•    Influence business partners consistently follow appropriate procedures and properly document employee relations matters/investigations.
•    Communicate with and educate assigned clients on CMG human resources policies and procedures.
•    Champion change and effectively guide business partners and employees through organizational change.
•    Coach all levels of managers on how to develop their employees and improve performance.  Assists with creation and execution of development plans.
•    Facilitate leadership team development; coach and counsel leaders on communication planning and processes, performance management, and organizational effectiveness among others.  
•    Consult on strategic initiatives, including strategy, technology, structure, process and people issues.
•    Support and facilitate effective recruitment/retention strategies that focus on diversity in collaboration with hiring managers.
•    Improve and streamline operations through the continuous assessment of policies, procedures and program effectiveness/value, leveraging technology whenever possible.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
•    Minimum of five (5) to  seven( 7) years of HR experience, with a minimum of (3)years  in HR Manager or comparable role supporting client groups of 500+ employees
•    Strong employee relations background 
•    Experience performing in a multi-site/multi-state environment is preferred
•    PHR or SPHR certification a plus

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
•    Technical HR knowledge, e.g., employment laws, FLSA, FMLA, employee/labor relations, staffing and selection, performance management, training and development.
•    Knowledge of HR best practices and demonstrated success working as a HR strategic partner or consultant.
•    Experience with employee development and coaching for results.
•    Strong organizational and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities. 
•    Knowledge of management principles and practices with demonstrated leadership and team building abilities. 
•    Ability to proactively identify and diagnose business needs and deliver relevant solutions.
•    Ability to prioritize and deliver results against a work plan in a fast-paced environment, giving attention to detail even under high pressure situations.
•    Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
•    Ability to work with little or no supervision.
•    Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
•    Ability to identify organizational development needs and deliver relevant training as needed.
