WSOC-TV is searching to fill its opening for a Technical Operator. This is a full time position. Although the duties for this position include production assistant duties (robotics camera operation, teleprompter, basic lighting), there is a strong focus on directing using the Grass Valley Ignite system.

The best candidate for this position will have:

  • Intimate operating knowledge of automation systems, including but not exclusively Ignite
  • Previous experience and understanding of Ignite TME/IQT construction
  • MOS and basic computer network understanding
  • Understanding of newsroom systems iNews or ENPS and extensions with Deko and Chyron
  • Video production switcher experience


Candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker, using technical know-how to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news.
