Police: Man hit by car may have been intoxicated

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a car in South Charlotte early Sunday morning.

The impact from the crash was so powerful that it caved in the driver's windshield.

Police said the pedestrian may have been drunk when the crash happened on Ton Short and Ardrey Kell Road.

The driver has been cooperative with authorities so far and not been charged.

The victim is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
