Temperatures Saturday morning will be around 70 degrees, but the thermometer will quickly rise into the mid-90s with a heat index of 98 degrees in the afternoon.
That heat could unleash some thunderstorms sporadically throughout the area. Severe storms could be a possibility.
However, there will be somewhat of a break in the heat and humidity later on this weekend. Sunday’s temperatures will only be in the mid-80s with most of the storm threat staying east of Charlotte.
