Temps hit 74 degrees, only 2 degrees shy of record

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The temperatures around Charlotte was 74 degrees Wednesday afternoon, which is normal for late April and only 2 degrees shy of the record.

There have been a few pop-up showers that will die down once the sun sets.

There may be some light showers Thursday morning, but nothing like the storm Tuesday night. They should be gone by the morning drive. It will be about 70 degrees Thursday afternoon.

A cold front is on track for Friday morning. Heavier showers and gusty winds will be the greatest threat along with some lightning.

A severe weather threat is still fairly low but will be monitored. Once that clears after lunch, the area will have a very nice stretch of weather through the weekend with highs in the 60s and partly sunny skies.
