Small chance for sleet, snow as temps dip Monday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Winter has returned to the Channel 9 viewing area. Temperatures have fallen to the mid 30s from Charlotte northward.

There is one more batch of precipitation that may bring some sleet or light snow for a couple of hours. Since it has been warm recently, ground temperatures are warm and accumulation is unlikely. Temperatures will fall to the upper teens, and reach about 20 overnight. The record low is 15 degrees.

There are two more storms to watch before the weekend comes.

Tuesday night a weak system will develop to the southeast, far enough away that the Charlotte area will not see any precipitation.

The next system is on Thursday, a coastal storm that will try to organize in time to bring chilly rain. Some rain is possible, but wintry weather will be avoided in the Charlotte area.

Warmer temperatures will come Friday going into the weekend. Temperatures will return the 60s with plenty of sunshine.
