CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson fans who want to celebrate the Tigers national championship in football everywhere they go can now order a special license plate from the state of South Carolina.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles says the special plates went on sale Tuesday.
Fans pay $70 in addition to the vehicle's registration fee every two years for the plate. It can be bought at local DMV offices or ordered online .
Legislators approved the special plate for sale earlier this year.
South Carolina lawmakers also passed bills allowing for special plates for Coastal Carolina's 2016 baseball championship and the University of South Carolina's 2017 women's basketball title. Those plates will be available at the DMV soon.
