Grandparents, grandson fatally shot, granddaughter wounded in SC

WALTERBORO, S.C. — A shooting in Colleton County has left two grandparents and their grandson dead and their granddaughter wounded.

The Post and Courier reports Colleton County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Tyger Benton says deputies responded to a residence in the unincorporated community of Ruffin after reports of multiple shots fired with possible fatalities Tuesday.

Benton says the first deputy to arrive discovered the grandmother, grandfather and 13-year-old boy dead. The 9-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was flown to Medical University Hospital and taken into surgery. Colleton County Fire-Rescue Chief Barry McRoy says she was awake and talking during her transport.

Sheriff's investigators have requested the help of the State Law Enforcement Division. There were no suspects or persons of interest as of Tuesday night.
