Steel company to create 180 jobs in York County

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A new steel manufacturing company says it will start operations later this year, creating 180 jobs in York County.

The South Carolina Commerce Department said in a news release Thursday that Schuff Steel Company will spend $9 million to renovate an existing fabrication plant in Rock Hill.

The commerce department said Schuff Steel is one of the largest and most experienced structural steel fabricators and erectors in North America.

Rustin Roach with Schuff's parent company DMB Global said the Rock Hill plant will enhance company operations in the eastern United States.

Hiring is expected to start soon.
