CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

The Charlotte Knights have reached an agreement on naming rights for a new stadium proposed for uptown Charlotte.

But there are still questions about whether the stadium will be constructed.

BB&T did not say Monday how much it will contribute for the park. The deal calls for the stadium to carry the banking corporation's name and signs, plus other promotional opportunities.

Charlotte City Council has not committed to its share of funding the $74 million stadium, including $28 million from Mecklenburg County. The city is considering a $8.5 million contribution.

The AAA-affiliate of the Chicago White Sox currently plays at Knights Castle in Fort Mill.

The team says an uptown Charlotte stadium would allow the team to double attendance, currently among the lowest in the International League, at around 300,000.
