INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. —
Channel 9 Sports investigated a newspaper report accusing Sun Valley Coach Scott Stein for pulling a hoax on National Signing Day.
The article said Stein used players as pawns and had them pretend to sign letters of intent to North Carolina schools.
Channel 9 called Stein and the school Friday and learned firsthand these allegations are 100 percent untrue.
After that call, Channel 9 went to Sun Valley to speak with Stein face-to-face.
He said he didn't pull any charade or scam on Signing Day. Both players and their parents were well aware they were signing with Western Carolina and Appalachian State.
