CONCORD, N.C. —
The biggest, best and most of exclusive of all of these events happens at Hendrick Motorsport’s headquarters in the Charlotte each May during Speed Week.
“The event in Charlotte is like our homecoming event and I always look forward to it,” said Gordon.
For Jeff Gordon Network members who were lucky enough to be selected in the attendance lottery drawing, excitement doesn’t come close to describing how they feel.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet him, shake his hand, get his autograph, chat, it’s just amazing!” That’s what super-fan Ginny Underwood said after meeting her hero and spending a moment on stage with him one-on-one.
Gordon did this for each of the more than 200 fans in attendance. It took hours, but he wanted to make sure that each person got the individual attention they deserved.
“I have the most amazing fans, so many of them have been with me from the beginning of my career,” said Gordon.

But it’s not just the fans that get something out of these events. By seeing his ardent and sometimes screaming fans face-to-face, he takes away something as well.
“The support my fans show me and the entire No. 24 DuPont race team is so awesome,” said Gordon, “and it gets us really fired up to perform well at the track every weekend.”
After the meet-and-greet and signing hundreds of autographs and posing for photos, Gordon gave the fans a very special treat.
He has become a self-described ‘addict’ to the EA Sports Rock Band video game. It’s the one where players bang away on electronic drums and strum electronic guitars trying to get a high score while ‘performing’ rock songs.
Gordon and a couple of his younger fans got on stage and gave the rest of the room a loud and enthusiastic rendition of ‘Mississippi Queen’
The crowd loved it and went nuts!
“Jeff Gordon is the man, THE MAN!” Fan Corey Hardman wrapped up how all the fans seemed to feel.
Playing a video game with some kids may not be what you would expect a serious multi-million dollar business man and multi-championship race car driver to be doing.
Regardless, you could tell just by looking at Gordon, this was as much fun for him as it was his fans.
The fact that Gordon and other drivers do things like this, not just drive fast cars, is a big reason why NASCAR is so popular with so many people.
