Weekend should be sunny with temperatures in 60s

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The cold front and all of its rain are long gone and the clouds are now parting.

The area is in store for a nice late February weekend with plenty of sun with some clouds and temperatures both days well into the 60s, according to Severe Weather Center chief meteorologist Steve Udelson.

Early next week, there will be a couple of weak systems heading in this direction, but Udelson said he doesn't see much falling from the sky.

The strongest is next Wednesday, with a storm passing off to our south. The area may see some light rain from it and especially north of Charlotte. It may end as a few flakes, but for now it doesn't look like a big deal.  If somehow the area ends up much colder, it will be a different story.

Either way, behind that storm, the area gets back to some late winter chill with highs in the 40s for a couple of days before again warming into the following weekend.
