Sunshine, warmer weather on the way

CHARLOTTE — The clouds, cooler temperatures and wet weather will linger around Charlotte for a bit longer.

Cloudy skies and light drizzle are expected Tuesday night, with temperatures in the upper 30s.

Temperatures will dip into the mid-30s Tuesday night. Another round of showers will move in early Wednesday morning, but temperatures in the Charlotte area will be warm enough that this will be light rain. There could be patchy fog and haze on Wednesday morning.

The mountains and foothills will have a concern for light freezing rain and black ice early Wednesday morning. A winter weather advisory was issued for Avery County and the Burke, Caldwell and McDowell mountains until 11 a.m. Wednesday for the threat of light freezing rain and black ice.

The clouds will clear by Wednesday afternoon and highs will reach the mid-50s.

Thursday marks the official start to spring, and highs will return to the upper 60s with sunny skies.

Another front will move in this weekend and the best chance of rain will be Sunday.
