Traffic builds at Charlotte Douglas Airport for Christmas Eve travel

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several people got in security lines early Tuesday morning for Christmas Eve flights out of Charlotte Douglas Airport.

They were hoping to avoid the delays and cancellations that left some travelers stranded on Monday. Those were blamed on the major winter storm system over the northeastern part of the United States. Among the issues, a plane in Detroit skidded on an icy runway.
