The fairy penguin is the smallest of 18 species of penguins. Also known as little penguins or blue penguins, adults only weigh 2 to 3 pounds and stand at 13 inches.

The little one hatched May 10.

According to a press release from the Wildlife Conservation Society, the colony of little penguins debuted at the Bronx Zoo last year.

The little chick is the only one hatched at the zoo. All others in the colony were hatched at Sydney's Taronga Zoo and brought to the WCS's Bronx Zoo.
