'Cash me Outside' teen could soon face trial on juvenile charges

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — A criminal trial date could soon be in the future for Danielle Bregoli, the Boynton Beach teenager and former "Dr. Phil" show guest riding a wave of internet popularity from her use of the verbal taunt "Cash me outside."

At a hearing in Palm Beach County Juvenile Court early Wednesday, Circuit Judge Lou Delgado set an April 26 calendar call date for the 14-year-old, who faces several theft charges as well as a charge of filing a false police report.

The charges against her mostly include alleged acts committed against her mother, Barbara Ann Bregoli, who appeared with her on the “Dr. Phil” show last year and complained that her daughter was out of control. During the episode, Danielle challenged audience members to a fight using the catchphrase that almost immediately made her a social media trending topic.

In an exclusive interview with The Palm Beach Post, Barbara Bregoli said her daughter is now trying to build a career in Los Angeles and is both in school and therapy to work out her behavior issues.

“Right now the sky’s the limit for her,” Barbara Bregoli said.

The teen, now working with a Hollywood management team, hired local criminal defense attorney Scott Richardson last month to represent her. A former chief assistant state attorney, Richardson was previously on the legal team of now incarcerated Wellington polo club founder John Goodman and is one of several lawyers representing former Palm Beach Gardens police Officer Nouman Raja, arrested last year in the October 2015 shooting death of 31-year-old stranded motorist Corey Jones.

Reached by phone, Richardson echoed Barbara Bregoli’s sentiments about her daughter’s progress and confirmed they have documentation to prove that the one-time middle school dropout now works with a tutor and is enrolled in a virtual school.

Danielle's father, Ira Peskowitz, said in his interview with The Post last month that Barbara Bregoli and his daughter's management team are all exploiting her for their own financial gain.

Peskowitz, a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy, recently filed a petition asking a judge to grant him both visitation and a decision-making role in his daughter’s life. Peskowitz is also asking for a reduction in the $1,100 monthly child support payments he makes for Danielle, with whom he was estranged until months before the “Dr. Phil” show.

Although Danielle is now living in Los Angeles, she is expected to return to Florida for her April 26 hearing, when Delgado could set a trial date in the case.

Richardson declined to say Wednesday whether he was talking to prosecutors about a plea deal.
