ATLANTA — A man is dead after being shot outside an Atlanta bar where he was celebrating his birthday.
TMZ reported that Cliff Dixon was partying at SL Lounge in Atlanta when shots were fired around 1 a.m. Thursday.
According to Chamblee Police Department spokesman Michael Beller, Dixon had just arrived at the bar and was standing in the parking lot when someone shot him multiple times. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Dixon is the "adopted brother" of NBA superstar Kevin Durant, according to Chamblee Police Department spokesman Michael Beller. Dixon is a former college basketball player who also played overseas. TMZ reported he and Durant were childhood friends.
Police say the lone gunman ran away from the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
