Have Disney fix TSA line problems, former senator suggests

TSA security lines are getting longer, but is there any real way to fix the problem than to go on national television and complain about the wait?

A former senator says he has a solution: Sit down with the mouse house.

He suggested consulting with Disney officials on how to deal with the crowds of travelers who are only expected to grow this summer.

Bob Kerrey, a Democrat who sat on the Select Committee on Intelligence during his time in the Senate, told CNBC Wednesday morning:, "I don't think the government can do this. If you went to Walt Disney and said, 'Can you reduce the size of the lines?' Nobody runs lines better than Disney."

More TSA officers are being sent to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago to help with the waits, which are longer than 60 to 90 minutes.

Travelers are also being told to arrive two to three hours before their flights.

Airlines for America estimates that this year will be busier than last year, with at least a 4 percent increase in traffic over 2015.

Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson said the TSA will be hiring more security personnel and increasing overtime, USA Today reported. It is also asking airlines to help by limiting carry-on items, CNBC reported.
