Hunt's Chili Kits recalled over salmonella risk

Some Hunts chili kits were recalled over the risk of salmonella.

Some Hunt's Chili Kits are being recalled because of the possibility of salmonella bacteria in the chili seasoning, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Although no salmonella was found in the finished product supplied to Conagra Brands, the company is recalling the product, which was sent to retail stores, military commissaries and sold online throughout the United States.

The affected 44.8-ounce chili kits have best-by dates of April 4, 2018; May 1, 2018; and April 5, 2018. Consumers should return the chili kit to the store where it was purchased.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause diarrhea, fever and cramps. While most people recover, the elderly, infants or people with impaired immune systems might need to go to the hospital.

No one has reported an adverse reaction from the product.
