Husband transforms developer Barbie to look like his wife

OAKLAND, Calif. — An Oakland, California, game developer definitely deserves a "best husband ever" award.

Marcus Montgomery was disappointed to learn that his wife ended up not buying the game developer Barbie doll because it did not reflect her skin color.

Montgomery and his wife, Lisette Titre-Montgomery, are black.

The doll appears to be white with red hair and gray eyes.

Despite Mattel's release of Barbies with more diverse shapes and skin tones, the game developer Barbie was released with celebration but not as much diversity.

"When (my wife) heard there was a game developer Barbie out, she went to buy one," Montgomery said. "They only came in one skin tone. So she didn't buy one. I fixed the problem."

Montgomery, who also works in game design, fixed it by buying one of Mattel's Fashionista Barbies, which is part of a line of dolls with a wide range of skin colors and body shapes.
