EDMONTON, Alberta — Meat Loaf collapsed on stage Thursday night while performing in Canada, according to reports from several concertgoers.

The 68-year-old singer, who was born Michael Lee Aday, was playing at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta, when reports surfaced on social media that the entertainer had collapsed while singing "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I won't Do That)" around 9:30 p.m. local time. Witnesses said it happened near the end of an encore.

Edmonton police confirmed that they responded to a medical call at the venue, CBC reported. His condition was not immediately known. Fans reported seeing an ambulance at the venue.

"He just fell," fan Jamie Carriere told CBC. "I thought it was a joke. I didn't know what was going on because he was joking around throughout his set. ... He just didn't get up and security was up there and they told us we had to go."

Carriere shared a video of the fall on Facebook.
