Seattle Seahawks DT Jarran Reed suspended 6 games

Jarran Reed had 10.5 sacks for the Seattle Seahawks last season.

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed has been suspended for six games for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

The suspension was first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

The suspension stems from an incident in early 2017 in which Reed was not arrested or charged.

The city of Bellevue sent the following statement about the incident to KIRO 7:

"In 2017, after a careful review of the case, prosecutors believed there was insufficient evidence to prove 'beyond a reasonable doubt' the alleged crime. As with all criminal cases, prosecutors take any incident related to domestic violence very seriously."

Reed’s appeal was denied Friday morning, according to Rapoport.

"We are aware of the situation involving Jarran Reed and have followed league and law enforcement protocol since the alleged incident in April of 2017," a spokesman for the Seahawks wrote on Twitter.

Reed responded to the news of his suspension in a tweet:

Reed, 26, was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft after starring at the University of Alabama.

Reed had 10.5 sacks in 16 games for the Seahawks last season.

The Seahawks are scheduled to open training camp Thursday.

KIRO 7 will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
