Teaser trailer for 'Birth of a Nation' released

The official teaser trailer for the slave rebellion film "Birth of a Nation" was released by Fox Searchlight Friday.

The movie focuses on the leader of a famous slave rebellion named Nat Turner. The actor who plays him, Nate Parker, has gotten high praise for his performance at Sundance, where the movie was a hit.

Nate Parker has multiple roles on the project, acting as the lead, directing the movie and writing the screenplay.

At the movie festival, the film took home the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Sundance Audience Award.

The film also stars Aja Naomi King, Gabrielle Union and Armie Hammer, among others.

"Birth of a Nation" will be in theaters Oct. 7.
