For the most part, money to develop the Skydrive car, which would use drone technology to hover about 30 feet overhead, has come from crowd source funding. The three-wheeled car has a projected top flight speed of 62 mph.

The group of about 30 engineers who were volunteering their time on the project hope to have a prototype ready by the end of 2018. They want a version ready to light the torch for the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo.
