Wine drinking woman rewarded with free chicken wings for leaving car in restaurant parking lot

ALBERTA, Canada — Paula Grzelak-Schultz had a little too much wine one evening and left her SUV in the restaurant parking lot.

She returned to her vehicle a couple of days later to find a note on the windshield.

"I thought I was getting in trouble," Shultz told CTV Edmonton.

It was actually a reward.

"Just wanted to thank you for leaving your car parked overnight," read the note, written by Jay McLean, manager of Original Joe's Pub and Restaurant. "I'm not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not, but we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving."

Included with the note was a coupon for a free pound of chicken wings.

She was stunned.

"In this day and age, the world is all about me, me, me," Schultz told 'Today.' "He did this because he wanted to do the right thing, and wanted to acknowledge that I did the right thing."

McLean started randomly leaving notes on cars left overnight about a year ago thoughtful inebriated drivers.

"I just hope they feel appreciated and thanked for not getting behind the wheel," McLean told Global News.
