Woman's car chainsawed to save kitten

A car had to be sawed in half to get to a kitten (not pictured) stuck inside.

VERO BEACH, Fla. — A Florida woman had to sacrifice her car on Monday after her kitten crawled deep into the dash console and and couldn’t get out.

WPEC reported that Denise Wilford-Neal, who adopted her kitten in Vero Beach, Florida, Monday, attempted to lure the kitten out with food and water, but after 20 hours, she became worried and went to Facebook to find some help.

"I was worried about the heat of the day," she said. “So, I put a post on Facebook does anyone have suggestions and then it went crazy. People were calling and coming by with tools and mechanics came."

According to WPEC, Travis Inman, a mechanic, helped to pull apart the dash console, but they were still unable to locate the kitten.

"They disassembled my dash piece by piece, looking and still looking, taking pieces apart,” Wilford-Neal said, “But they said there was one way to get to (the kitten). They could use a saw to cut out the dash, but it would destroy my Monte Carlo.”

The car had to be sacrificed — leaving her without an automobile — but Wilford-Neal said she would do it all again to save her new kitten, whom she named Monte after her Monte Carlo.
