Tryon St. changes during DNC

There will be several changes to Tryon St. in Uptown Charlotte during the Democratic National Convention.

SUNDAY AND MONDAY:  Tryon St. will be closed between Morehead St. and 6th St. from early in the morning on Sunday, September 2nd through late in the evening on Monday, September 3rd due to "CarolinaFest." 

  • Southbound traffic should use 7th St. (right) to Church St. (left) to Morehead St. (left) as an alternate route.
  • Northbound traffic should use Morehead St. (left) to I-77 North to Brookshire Freeway eastbound (Exit 11) to the Tryon St. exit (exit 3B) as an alternate route.  College St. will occasionally be open, but will be often be blocked for parades and security set-up.

TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY:  Tryon St. in Uptown Charlotte will become a one-way street for the Democratic National Convention.  All lanes between Stonewall St. and Brookshire Freeway will be used for northbound traffic from 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4th through late Thursday evening (September 5th) or early Friday (September 6th).  Southbound traffic should use Church St. as an alternate route.
