UNC board set to name new chancellor at ASU

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — (AP) The UNC Board of Governors is set to elect a new chancellor for Appalachian State University.

The board is scheduled to hold a special meeting on Wednesday at the Spangler Center in Chapel Hill. The election is the sole item on the agenda.

It was almost a year ago that Chancellor Kenneth Peacock announced his resignation after nine years on the job in Boone. In a statement on the university's web page at the time, Peacock said it was a difficult decision, but he also said he believed the time was right for the school and for him to make the change for his family.
