The 45th president of the United States will be  inaugurated in January. He'll turn 71 the same year.

Trump's election is significant because it marks a campaign in which a figure with no political experience clinched the presidency, a factor that many voters said was favorable in his quest to "make America great again." Others said the lack of experience was a reason Hillary Clinton was a more qualified candidate.

But aside from his distinct background, Trump will also make history as being the oldest president-elect to take office.

Trump, born June 14, 1946, is 70 years old.

Ronald Reagan, who took the oath of office at the age of 69 in 1981, was previously the oldest elected president.
