Man in UPS uniform, 3 others accused of assaulting, robbing homeowner during fake delivery

HOUSTON — Police in Texas are searching for four people in connection with a violent home invasion, including a man who they say wore a UPS uniform to get into the victim’s home.

ABC 13 in Houston reported that the robbery, which was reported the evening of Nov. 22, left the male homeowner with a fractured skull, 28 staples in his head and an injured lip. The man told the news station he was also shocked with a stun gun during the assault.

He held off the armed men long enough for his wife and 4-year-old twin daughters to safely lock themselves in a closet, the man said.

Surveillance footage from the family's security system showed a man dressed in a UPS uniform ringing the doorbell, a large package in hand. The footage, uploaded to YouTube by the Houston Police Department, showed the man pushing his way into the house after the homeowner opened the door.

Three other men, guns drawn, could be seen running up to the door and forcing their way inside.

They assaulted the homeowner with a pistol, ABC 13 reported. A shot was fired inside the home during the struggle, but no one was hit.

The men got away with jewelry and collectible firearms, the news station reported.

Police officials said UPS is working with them in the investigation to determine how the first man obtained the jacket he was wearing during the robbery. The jacket is normally issued to full-time employees of the parcel service.
