A severe thunderstorm watch means that the potential exists for thunderstorms that could bring hail or damaging winds.
A severe thunderstorm warning means that a severe thunderstorm is happening or is imminent.
The severe classification means that hail associated with the storm is 0.75 inches in diameter or larger and/or wind gusts are 58 mph or more.
