Weekend warmup is underway, but chilly air quickly approaching

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Last week's winter chill is gone as very warm temperatures move into the Charlotte area.

Temps sat near 60 degrees Saturday afternoon and it will get even warmer Sunday. Unfortunately, the warm weather visit will be very brief.

There is a weak system just to the east of Charlotte, near the coast, and it is producing showers. There may be a little rain Saturday night for some of the far southeastern counties but that will be the extent of it.

Sunday's weather should be very nice with mainly partly cloudy skies and very warm temperatures – it may even come close to 70 degrees.

After Sunday the temperatures will go back to their old habits. Clouds will pick up and the area will see showers on Monday.

Temps will cool off significantly each and every day -- ending up in the 40s as highs by the end of the week.
