Bruins Ink D Ward To Extension

(Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Aaron Ward to a multi-year contract extension.

Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ward, a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, appeared in 65 games for the Bruins last year and registered five goals and eight assists, along with 119 blocked shots and 143 hits. He also played in six of the Bruins playoff games and recorded one assist.

The 35-year-old Ottawa, Ontario native won back-to-back Stanley Cups with Detroit during the 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 campaigns and also earned a third ring with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2005-2006.

The 13-year blueliner has tallied 40 goals and 88 assists in 697 regular season games.
